After making a spectacular but somewhat controversial debut in my First World Championship season,
I was determined to try and calm down a little. Bob and I are again team-mates on Ron Dennis'
McLaren-Honda team. My goal was to gain more experience and move up from my sixth place finish.
Oh, and also try not to punt Bob off the road anymore!
Last season, I was over-exuberant and made a lot of mistakes. This season, I tried to calm down, but
I still wasn't concentrating at the level needed for Grand Prix racing. This is really difficult! My shining
moment of the season was at Monaco. My other win in Germany was somewhat clouded by accusations
of blocking. I was able to demonstrate good concentration at Hungary, Portugal and Adelaide, albiet I
wasn't racing for a win, but at least I kept it on the road. As for major brain-fades, Phoenix and Montreal
were the low points of the season. I was dominating both races when I made a stupid mistake at Phoenix.
In Montreal, it was simply a loss of concentration! I did however manage to improve to fourth in the
Championship. I had two wins, an amazing 11 pole positions and five fastest race laps.
